Militant Women Marchers Stop Mine Work in Kansas

Militants swarmed Central Coal and Coke Company mines in Kansas, halting operations at three sites near Pittsburg. Rocks, peppers, and wrecked autos accompanied the unrest as deputies faced thrown bread and butter while miners were forced from their shifts.

Morse Bail Fixed At 50,000 After Not Guilty Plea

Charles W Morse, an 18 year old New York shipbuilder, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States in a federal matter. He waived a hearing and posted 50,000 bail for grand jury appearance before US Commissioner Hitt. The warrant accuses Morse and associates of deceiving a government stockholder corporation and delivering false statements to further the alleged scheme. It also alleges a conspiracy to steal property from the Fleet Corporation.

Fatally Burned in Early Blaze

A boarding house near Royal Oaks burned in the early hours, killing light persons. Three others, a woman and two children, were badly injured with slim chances of recovery.

Miners halted at Mulberry mine by Jang this morning

Several mines of the Sheridan Coal Company at Mulberry were stopped by order of Jang after workers were halted at the site. Mulberry lies about ten miles from the central mines stormed by women earlier today.

Four Power Pacific Treaty Signed With Reservations

Washington December 13 1922 the quadroule treaty to preserve peace in the Pacific was signed by plenipotentiaries from the United States Great Britain France and Japan in the secretary of state office. A reservation holds that the United States Yap policy remains unconstrained until further written agreement with Japan is reached. The pact awaits parliamentary ratification and likely Senate action led by President Harding.

Eastlake Trial for Murder Begins

Eastlake, a Montrose naval petty officer, is charged with the murder of his wife Ma Eastlake whose mutilated body was found at their Colonial Way home on November 20. He and Miss Sarah Knox, a Baltimore trained nurse, face trial here. authorities call the case among the state’s most hideous crimes.

Japs Cut Navy Stop Ship Work

Ten rear admirals of the Japanese Navy have received honorable discharge amid naval limitation expectations. About 10,000 Mururan Steel Company workers, supplying steel for ships, were also discharged per the report from Japanese delegation headquarters.
