Boyer Wins 12th Annual Garden Contest Prize
Robert K Boyer won honorable mention and a prize at the 12th annual Yours America Gardens Contest sponsored by the Flower and Garden Foundation. Contestants maintained 200 square foot gardens and used seeds from leading seed firms. Boyer completed a four page entry with garden questions, story, drawing, and photos. The foundation has run the youth gardening competition since 1959 for ages 6 to 19.

Mt Airy Land Purchase Reported by Planning Board
Mt Airy planning and zoning board reports a contractor has placed a deposit on land beside the Middle High School with the plan to build townhouse and apartment facilities. The land belongs to Irvin Wagner and Herman Gillis. Witenstein and Skidmore of Rockville placed the deposit. Mayor Carl Smith and town councilmen announce repayment of $69,000 in forced account loans toward Mt Airy sewerage.
