Fire destroys area as volunteers battle mountain blaze
Lt Angleberger reported firefighters cut down burning trees and a Walkersville rescuer went to hospital with chest pains and exhaustion. The effort drew 18 brush units, 12 engines and tankers, and about 16 other vehicles from across the county, with hunters and four wheel drive crews aiding. Fire officials suspect a hunter's cigarette started the blaze in a dry area, where any spark can ignite a mountain fire.

District delegates hear noise rule and grant requests
The Taneytown club would be subject to new noise rules while existing clubs keep exemptions. County attorney John Mathias noted a court order blocks a shooting permit, so the Taneytown club isn’t an existing club under the bill. Delegates heard requests for state grants from the Frederick County Red Cross and the Brunswick CASS project, with match requirements stressed and emphasis on project readiness.
