Church Stands Guard In Night Club Section
In Baltimore the spire of St Alphonsus Church overlooks a shopping district and a nearby night club belt. Each year the church amplifies sacred Christmas music and hosts a parish children’s party. Father Mendelis plans a Santa-free tale this year, featuring a father, his wife, an innkeeper, and a newborn baby, preserving the party’s fascination without Santa.

Christmas Gifts Replacing Office Parties At St Alphonsus
Father Mendelis objects to Christmas office parties eclipsing the birth of Jesus and plans to buy gifts for about 240 children at St Alphonsus church. He funds the presents from his own money, noting the need to remember Christ in the season. A cork tree is described as producing usable bark about every decade after decades of growth.
