Deputy First Class Annette Sprecher was attacked while escorting Keenan M. Hollis from a Circuit Court courtroom to a holding cell. Hollis punched and bit the deputy, who was treated and released from Washington County Hospital. Hollis fled after a pursuit down the hall.
Fire log for the 24hour period ending 8 p.m. Tuesday lists several structure fires in Urbana Green Valley Mount St Marys College Emmitsburg Frederick Memorial Hospital Fort Detrick and Middletown. A 47 year old Baltimore man, Wung Dim of Seabury Road, was killed when a Mazda 1993 driven by Kham Pau collided with a westbound Saturn at Sam Eig Highway and Fields Road in Gaithersburg. Maryland State Police report two men robbed the Carousel Cards gift shop at the Twin Arch shopping center in Mount Airy on Tuesday afternoon. At about 3 p.m. they entered with a handgun, the clerk surrendered cash, and the suspects fled on foot in a red Isuzu Trooper seen by a wary pedestrian. The vehicle carried two Black men, one in a red jacket and the other possibly in a blue jacket.
A Myersville man, Christopher Anthony Smith, 18, was listed in serious condition at Washington County Hospital after a Tuesday night crash on U S 40 just east of Crossfield Road.passenger Kevin Ball, 16, was listed in fair condition. Steven Harvey, 29, the pickup driver, was in fair condition. Jason Ball, 22, of Hagerstown, was released after treatment. The crash remained under investigation.
