Clique Tells of $500000 Shakedown in Tax Probe
Wealthy Chicago attorney Abraham Teitelbaum testified that two men tied to Washington figures offered a $500,000 payoff under threat of tax trouble or prison. He named Bert K. Naster of Hollywood Florida and Frank Nathan of Pittsburgh as the proposers in Miami Beach last winter. Teitelbaum implicated a “ clique in Washington” seeking soft touches as he was targeted, prompting House tax investigators to convene a night session. Chair King and witness Jess Larson defended officials. Larson pleaded for action to stop such allegations from harming public trust.

Innocent Owners Duck Hunting Blinds Closed
In Baltimore on December 4, Harold H. Kolmer of the Maryland Department of Game and Inland Fish said federal agents have ordered the closure of several duck hunting blinds for illegal baiting. He noted baiting within half a mile of a blind violates federal rules and planes are used to spot baiting with torn or wheat. In some areas where blinds are close together it is hard to identify the responsible owner. The season runs from November 22 to January 5.
