SHAMROCK Texas two youths captured after an all night manhunt in the Oklahoma Texas border area. They crouched beside the slug torn body of the half brother who they say he shot by mistake. Officers named the slain man as Junior Bard Myers age 32. The captured man James William Whiteard 21 Phoenix Arizona gave aliases James Hunter and James Hunter. Whiteard signed a statement saying he shot Myers in the dark believing he was firing at an officer. Stephens 19, son of a ranch owner, was killed yesterday at dusk during the gun battle. The two fled near Elk City Oklahoma in a 100 acre brush area. Whiteard offered no resistance when found. The chase began after an auto collision involving a car used by the fugitives. The dead man’s wife Lois Hunter said her husband used the name Hunter and Myers was married a month earlier. Authorities say Myers-Hunter was wanted in Dover Arkansas for questioning about a bank robbery and in Hearne Texas for assault to murder a pickup order. No charges were filed immediately against Whiteard.
