Actress murdered at Keith's Philadelphia Theatre

Leading woman Mrs. Kate Hassett of Keith's Eighth Street Theatre Stock Company was fatally shot by actor Barry Johnston in Philadelphia's tenderloin district. Johnston, driven by jealousy, fired five times at Hassett at the Darlen and Wood streets stage area, then shot himself. Hassett died en route to hospital. Johnston survived the self inflicted wound.
