Fire at Gov Thomas Johnson High School ruled arson
Fire marshals said the blaze destroyed four lockers at Gov Thomas Johnson High School and triggered a smoke detector. The 11:26 a.m. fire caused no injuries, was extinguished quickly, and damage was about 300 dollars. Authorities seek information. In a separate incident a New Market Middle School student was suspended after a late Thursday toilet paper fire but it did not spread.

Thurmont teen Shane Thomas Brady 19 of Woodland Avenue and Mount Airy man Richard Anthony Tyler 25 of Old Mill Bottom Road were charged with possession of crack cocaine after an undercover stakeout at Sagner housing complex. Tyler rode in Brady’s vehicle on Pennsylvania Avenue. a bag with four racks of crack cocaine was found on South Street. Tyler jailed in $10,000 bail. Brady released on personal recognizance.
