FeLV a leading fatal disease in American cats

FeLV, a major fatal cat infectious disease, weakens immunity and raises risk of viral, parasitic, and bacterial infections. Transmission occurs via saliva, urine, blood, feces, and respiratory secretions, and can spread to unborn or nursing kittens. While no cure exists, infected cats should be isolated indoors with separate resources, and breeding should be avoided. Human risk is not increased, but cautious contact is advised for children and women of childbearing age.
