Middletown Clock Frozen Since July Storm Time
Middletown’s town clock in Zion Lutheran Church steeple has stopped at 6 55 p.m. since a July thunderstorm damaged its electrical motor. A special, nonstandard transmission and a new motor are delayed, keeping the hands fixed until at least mid September. The clock, a landmark since 1919, rises above town and draws daily calls from residents who rely on it for work and bedtime.
