The coast guard halted efforts to find the sloop Postecript missing since August 20 near Nantucket. A 2 foot crate carried three New York neighbors of President Roosevelt from Pasqauan New Mexico toward Nantucket amid a severe coastal storm. More than 20 vessels and planes scoured the coast from Portland to the Delaware capes with no trace found. The missing are Pierre Irving son of L DuPont Irving and Charles and John L Niles sons of Dr Walter L Niles.

Two Painters Injured In 28 Foot Fall At Sappington House
Idawerd Niemeyer and Charles Hurd, both painters from Hagerstown, fell 28 feet from a scaffold at the Sappington residence 725 East Second street. They suffered back injuries and were taken to Frederick City Hospital. The scaffold gave way while painting near the cornice. An iron duck in the scaffolding reportedly broke, prompting the fall and emergency response.
