MontCo plan replaces three closing schools with new ones
Montgomery County Superintendent J Edward Andrews unveils a 15 year master plan that preserves Olney Elementary by adding a new lease while replacing Kemp Mill Bells Mill with other schools. The plan calls for 31 closures over five years, saves about 100 million dollars, and adds seven period days at some high schools along with a kindergarten option. It also outlines boundary changes to balance enrollment and minority percentages and shifts all elementary schools toward a K through six configuration except Rosemary Hills.
