State Educators To Discuss Drugs
Proposed guidelines for drug counseling by educators will be presented to the Maryland State Board of Education when it meets August 25. The guidelines call for confidentiality with students seeking help, urge cooperation with professional sources if staff cannot assist, and require jointly notifying parents only when appropriate. The 16 page proposal, created by a 12 member advisory group, stresses avoiding the traditional parent or police roles and notes students may test educators with exaggerated or sensational accounts.
