Gail Poffenberger crowned Montgomery Fair Queen
Gail Poffenberger a 17 year old 4 H Club veteran was named queen of the Montgomery County Fair as JoAnne Doody 1970 queen crowned her at Gaithersburg. First runner up Cynthia Keller and six others from Gaithersburg Darnestown Poolesville Washington Grove were listed. The new queen daughter of Dr Paul Poffenberger and nurse mother will study home economics at the University of Maryland. The fair expected record crowds with 30 000 on Monday and large Tuesday attendance. Children’s Day featured contests and discounted rides while demonstrations covered bread shrimp geraniums and crackers.
