Soviet Union pushes broader defense of foreign bases in UN debate
In a United Nations Assembly discussion on Bizerte the Soviet delegate Platon D Morozov argued that Allied bases around the world threaten peace and sovereignty. He contended the real aim is US power, not France in Tunis, urging evacuation of foreign troops and a UN debate on self determination for captive nations. The piece frames US strategy as countered by Soviet influence and calls for a strong offensive stance.
