Dairymen in Maryland Meet in Baltimore With Large Attendance
A large crowd of Frederick county dairy farmers attended the Maryland Dairymen's Association meeting in Baltimore on a Saturday. Dr. A Wood, president of Maryland State College, and Samuel Jordan, county agent of Sheridan county Missouri, spoke as principals. The association shows strong influence, helping Frederick farmers earn ten cents per gallon for milk shipped to Baltimore. In just over a year the group reports business exceeding $4,000,000 annually. About 500 members were present and SV. Heaps reported receipts around $6,000 last year with a $1,500 deficit. An extra one mill per gallon assessment was approved for ongoing expenses. Also noted was shipment of a new Andrews Fox motor engine for the United Fire Company from Cincinnati, with delivery expected this week. The engine features a front-mounted pumping system and a booster pump operated by air, based on New York Fire Department specifications.
