El Paso August 27 Associated Press reports Francisco Villa’s forces gain arms and funds via smuggling from Texas New Mexico and Arizona. Millions of rounds of ammunition and rifles are said to pass border controls through dealers bound for Carranza troops and Villa’s band. Villa finances his movement with forced loans from foreign mining and cattle firms and by seizing cattle silver and property. He has captured horses from the U S Army remount depot at Fort Esa and used American currency in northern Mexico profits.
