A bustling market week offers onions to pies and a rich display of fruits and vegetables. Beef prices remain high but fish, beans, corn, potatoes, and melons show strong availability, with garden staples like tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, and Lima beans praised. prices listed for eggs, butter, poultry, apples, oranges, lemons, berries, grapes, and other staples.
A fragmented list shows diverse price quotes for fish and meats. Fish items include trout at 18 cents per pound, mackerel 18 cents, crabs 85 cents per quart, and clams 12 cents per dozen, alongside butterfish and other cataloged seafood. Meats cover beef cuts at 10 to 15 cents per pound, pork at 10 to 18 cents per pound, veal 15 cents, lamb 15 cents, and various chops and shoulders with modest cents per pound.
The funeral of Ida Roberts took place yesterday at 8:00 o'clock from Asbury Methodist. Services were conducted by Rev. O D Ostroll assisted by Revs Murray and Day. Pallbearers included Marshall Jenkins Anthony King and Ernest Davis. Burial was at Greenmount Cemetery. Rios & Sons Funeral Directors. The Mary Jane Outing Club plans a meeting this afternoon at Walkersville, with a Young Men's Obituary Society activity to follow.
