Bill would slap more time on prison hostage takers
Governor Schaefer pushes a bill to add up to 30 years to sentences for inmates who take corrections workers hostage. The proposal covers about 19,000 prisoners across Maryland facilities and follows a prison uprising at Maryland State Penitentiary in Baltimore. Public safety secretary Bishop Robinson said the case by case sentencing would apply statewide.
