Annual Corn Field Day Set for August 22 at Eastalco Farm

Frederick County extension agents plan the annual Corn Field Day at Eastalco Farm on the corner of Adamstown and New Design Roads. The event features a tour of 43 corn varieties from eight companies, weed control demonstrations, soil acidity effects, and equipment displays with free lunch after a 10 a.m. registration. Sponsors include DeKalb Funk Northrup King Southern States and Trojan among others.

Middletown Youths Attend National Cooperative Meet

Robert A. Ligier Jr and Kay R. Burrier from Middletown joined 700 youth scholars at a National Institute on Cooperative Education at Kansas State University Manhattan Kansas. The program, jointly sponsored by the University American Institute of Cooperation and local cooperatives, explored career opportunities and the American business system with 200 Farmer Coopers and 1 000 adult leaders in general sessions.
