Dance Recital At Park Shell Draws 800 Attendees
About 860 people attended the Evelyn R. White Stack of the Dance recital at Baker Park band shell. The free event opened with children acting out a cruise world voyage through ports labeled Hawaii Russia Persia France Austria and South American countries. The program included Tap Dance Club pupils and White Studio alums with Miss Joann Johnson at the piano. The display drew enthusiastic applause and was among the season’s largest events. Washington August 20 FI DDT has a rival that not only kills but repels. The new substance NMRI 448 is available to the public and was the 443rd of about 3 900 compounds tested by the Navy Medical Research Institute during wartime. Synthesized by Lt Cmdr Mirchenl Bitnan it is claimed to kill mosquitoes house flies sand flies chiggers bedbugs and silverfish and to repel insects in tropical and temperate zones. It can also spray a room already infested.
