Last Chance for Bike Inspection in City
Bicycle owners were given one final opportunity to license and inspect their bikes as the regular campaign closed with 1 701 bicycles licensed and inspected. Clerk Richard J. Ashton said the total was 98 below last year and about 300 under expectations. The last chance inspection is this Saturday at police headquarters on North Market Street from 8 30 to 11 30 a m.

Hundreds Flee After Tank Explodes At Tampa Chemical Plant
An explosion at Southern Mill Creek Chemical Co. sent acrolein fumes through a Tampa neighborhood, forcing evacuations of about 16 blocks and sending over 100 people to hospitals for eye and nose irritation, cramps, and nausea. Firefighters and police wore gas masks as they contained the blaze by midnight.

Barn Fire Triggers Injuries During Storm in Sandy Spring
A barn and its contents were destroyed on Brook Road in Sandy Spring as a severe electrical storm moved through Montgomery and Howard Counties. Lightning struck the barn roof. Harold Lethbridge, the owner, was preparing to milk when struck. Six fire companies responded and one Hillandale unit crashed en route.
