Hattery backs leave bill against Bush veto threat
In a Monday statement Democratic candidate Thomas Hattery urged President Bush to sign a family leave bill passed by the Senate. The measure would require 12 weeks unpaid leave for birth adoption or a serious illness for workers at firms with 50 or more employees. Republican opponent Roscoe Bartlett criticized federally mandated programs and said he would not back the bill noting he had not reviewed it.
