Isaac N. Eby a wealthy retired farmer near Bird-in-Hand was allegedly kidnapped by relatives fearing a marriage to housekeeper Stella Fry. He reportedly traveled via Monterey to Elkton Md where he married Fry after signing a license. Some searchers were fired upon at Eby's former home.
