False statement lands man in jai
Aue County man was sentenced in Frederick County to six months in the Frederick County Adult Detention Center with all but the sentence suspended for making false statements to police. Michael McKenzie, of Dickerson, had a prior record and his eyewitness account about abductors, drug deals, and a robbery was deemed false by jurors who deliberated about an hour. A nurse reported no injuries while a physician noted drug intoxication from cocaine in his system. The defense argued fear for family influenced his statements, while the prosecutor highlighted inconsistencies in McKenzie’s tale.
