Reading tutoring program expands to three area schools
The Friends of Children Caring Understanding and Sharing program known as FOCUS will extend from East Frederick Elementary to Thurmont Sabiliasville and Emmitsburg elementary schools. Hood College and the Frederick County Board of Education sponsor the effort to raise first and second graders to a third grade reading level, with training by Hood educator Dr Ellen Garfinkel.
