Stockton Wins PGA Championship In Dramatic Finish
Dave Stockton avoided a playoff with Don January and Ray Floyd by sinking a 15-foot par putt on the final hole at Congressional to finish 241. The weather delay forced a late restart and helped Stockton grind to a one-over 224 for the tournament. Nicklaus and January faltered with doubles as Floyd missed a birdie on 18, cementing Stockton’s victory.
