Aranda faces charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to maim, weapon possession, reckless endangerment, and battery.

Tropical Storm Beryl moved ashore flooding forecast across Alabama Georgia and northern Florida with 4 to 6 inches of rain and isolated 12 inch totals. Thunderstorms spread into the Carolinas Virginia and parts of the Midwest while other regions saw hot conditions and scattered storms.
One of two youths who allegedly stole a pickup on August 2 at the South Mountain Project surrendered Monday afternoon. James Purnell, 18, of Wheaton, was moved to Frederick County Detention Center and charged with escape and theft over $300. South Mountain is an aftercare program beside Victor Cullen Academy in Sabillasville.

Frederick police say a 16 year old and David Michael Boardman 18 were charged after a 16 year old boy was beaten with golf clubs in Max Kehne Park on West Seventh Street. The victim was treated and released at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Officers Kevin Grubb and Julaine Ayers investigated.
