Witmer given life plus 10 years for two murders

Daren Witmer, 24, convicted of murdering William Clinton McSherry Jr. and another Frederick resident, received life without parole plus 10 years after admitting to both killings. The court, while noting his violence, said only the governor can pardon him.

Developer to relocate 16 sycamore trees at Tuscarora Knolls

After a Tuesday meeting with city officials the High lands at Tuscarora Knolls developer agreed to remove 16 sycamore trees planted over a waterline in the neighborhood. By early afternoon the trees were removed and a landscaping crew planned to plant them elsewhere in the development. The city refused to waver, citing city code and the risk to the waterline. Mayor Jim Grimes said the trees must come out and officials had threatened fines previously.

Last gasps of Beryl threaten heavy county rain
