Teaching Swahili grows beyond the classroom
Mr. Melinde leads a fledgling Swahili course at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School amid limited materials and no pre written curriculum. He aims to bring guest speakers from African embassies and adapt texts for high school students, tying the course to state foreign language graduation requirements and planning an advanced class for 1994 1995.
