Steamer Craigearn Burns Wood for Fuel at Sea
Newport News Va Aug 15 After five days without coal the Britlagh steamer Craigearn bound from Dalquiri Cuba to Baltimore docked in distress. An injured chief engineer, who went homicidal after a Cuban incident, reduced coal aboard to zero and the ship’s woodwork was burned as fuel as the vessel continued toward Hampton Roads. Captain Edwards later found all wood aboard consumed and coal bunkers nearly empty.

New York August 15 six Brooklyn Rapid Transit division inspectors were arrested for assault. Missing Men Drowned After Overturned Boat Found
Two youths Frank Lemer and Mr Bishop disappeared during a fishing trip from Millersburg toward Montgomery's Ferry on the Susquehanna River. The overturned boat was later found bottom up near the shore as searches continued. Dr. Lefer and local residents undertook the missing person hunt.
