Pleads Guilty in Drunken Driving Case and Fine
A 24 year old Airy man pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge and paid $200 plus costs in People's Court before Magistrate Alton Y Bennett. Robert Stanley Van Sant offered no testimony after being arrested near Linden Hills by State Trooper Richard Myers. The officer testified Van Sant operated a pickup erratically and reeked of alcohol. Sprouse also pleaded guilty to failing to drive to the right of center and paid $10 plus costs. the accident occurred on South Mountain near the Washington county line, injuring a passenger and causing major damage to both cars. The officer testified Sprouse was momentarily blinded by sun. Traffic details followed as streams conditions noted: Monocacy clear and very low at Frederick Junction.
