Good Pasture Cheapest Source Of Dairy Feed
The cheapest feed for dairy cows is good pasture but high producers need concentrates to meet body maintenance and milk output. J W Pou of Maryland notes supplement with hay or silage when pasture is short, and a home-grown grain mix with 12 to 14 percent protein can meet cows needs. Maryland Leaflets offer suggested mixtures, available viaCounty Agent. the note ends with a line about American coal mines totaling 30 billion tons.

Agriculture Dept Records Show Rise in Sire Proving
The Agriculture Department reports a surge in dairy bull proving records in 1951 with 271000 records in the first half, up from 241000 in 1950.
