Camden County farmer Giaconi Magia beaten by a burglar with a blackjack near Westville while $107 was stolen from his wife Mrs Magia. The attacker fled into woods as searching parties roamed the area. Magia’s injuries were grave and likely fatal.
J W C Wilder a farmer from Tom Bean six miles from Sherman was charged with beating his wife to death with a Watson. Wilder was injured in the incident and will die. Three children witnessed the crime telling a married sister. No motive is given.
Miss Esac or Case, insisting on a life or death interview with President Roosevelt, caused a disturbance at Christ Episcopal Church. She resisted ushers, was removed by force, tore her gown, and later sought a warrant for the usher. Secret service prevented further contact as the Roosevelts departed.
Washington reports will prevent discrimination against Chinese workers recruited for Panama Canal construction. Taft will oversee contracts to ensure wages and terms align with protections, enabling regulation of relations between labor agents and contractors and safeguarding Chinese subjects on the isthmus.

Suste della aged 16 of Throop near Scranton killed herself after her father scolded her for keeping company with a boy he did not approve. He confronted them at the house, causing mortification and rage, then she walked to a rear yard, fired a revolver in the head, and died about 45 minutes later.
Milton Whetstone age 33 cashier at Citizens National Bank of Lansford died after a trolley struck their carriage as they crossed tracks in Lansford Pa. Daniel McGechan 27 assistant cashier was fatally injured with a broken back. Both men were returning from a drive when the accident occurred.
John Irvin Myers, an engineer at the Mona Aylyapia yard in Roha, drowned while rescuing two young women from drowning near Weat Muirview as a camping party swam. Mrs. Jacob Baum rowed to aid, and Myers died after ensuring their safety. Myers and Mabel Updegrove were to wed in October. a new home was to rise in Enola for their future.
Residents in the Heights report a striking mirage of the Canadian shore over Lake Erie, visible for more than an hour. The inverted image showed Rondeau and city landmarks, with distant rock and river mouths appearing clearly, attributed to atmospheric conditions after heavy rains.

Aug 13 Lancaster Pa reports a 15 year old Leh man smothered in a grain bin at Hermans warehouse Gordonville. He and a companion watched grain shipping when the boy fell or jumped into the moving bin and was buried. Rescue lasted about an hour with shovels.
