Potomac River Festival Opens In Brunswick With Crowns
The ninth annual Potomac River Festival began at 10 a m in Brunswick and runs through Sunday. Events include the crowning of Prince and Princess Potomac IX on Friday evening and Queen Potomac IX later, plus helicopter rides, antique shows, raft rides, and various exhibits. The Berlin Brunswiack Distinguished Citizens Award closes the festival Friday evening, followed by Navy Band performances at Brunswick High.

The remains of two 23 year old men from Rising Sus Ohio were found amid wreckage of a single engine Grum American AA B craft near Camp Waredaca Damascus. Police say the plane went down in an open field during a strong thunderstorm between 10 and 11 p m Thursday. FAA investigators head to the scene to determine cause. The victim identities awaited next of kin.

At Edwards Air Force Base California two astronauts Fred Haise and Gordon Fullerton piloted the Space Shuttle Enterprise on a solo glide from its carrier jet.
