Railway Executives Delay Answer to Harding on Strike
Washington and New York reports indicate railway executives will present a conditional reply to President Harding after two lengthy sessions. A committee led by T De Witt Cuyler will meet the president and submit the decision, which will not be made public until then. Union leaders fear the conference may yield tacit approval of the shopmen strike policy, with conspiratorial concerns and legal constraints shaping any formal agreement.

Union leaders weigh seniority plan amid wartime order pledge
The conference heard that the original order to use troops when needed will stand. It also covered no strike that would block government authority to protect life and property. The main question was whether union leaders would back the shopmen’s union’s tentative rejection of Harding’s proposal to submit seniority to the railroad labor board.
