Maryland to overhaul state scholarship funding fairness
State officials seek legislative changes to redistribute scholarship aid more equitably across Maryland’s legislative districts. Current law splits funds evenly among senators and delegates, even as wealth disparities mean needier students in poorer districts may be left short. Proposals aim to boost general state program totals and allocate some new aid by student need rather than district wealth.
