Taney Museum makes slave quarters accessible to handicapped visitors
The Francis Scott Key Memorial Foundation upgraded access at the Roger Brooke Taney Museum in Frederick by installing a level walkway and removing obstacles around the outbuilding. Donated paving bricks funded a contractor bill, improving wheel chair access to the slave kitchen storage room and dining area, while the main house remains largely inaccessible. The foundation preserves Taney’s house and memorabilia, including his role swearing in seven presidents and the Dred Scott decision.
