Candidates and policies on inflation crime and gun control
Republican candidate Wainwright Dawson of Annapolis argues inflation stems from deficits and monetary excess, calling for debt limits and tax cuts. He says crime rises from liberal policing and opposes gun control, favoring mandatory sentences for illegal firearm use. Maryland Senator Tydings defends progressive laws, while Mahoney attacks Tydings over crime legislation and points to Supreme Court rulings. Democrat Walter Finch supports recognizing Red China and UN admission, advocating détente with the Soviet bloc and new UN involvement.
