Frederick County OKs Department of Aging plan and upgrades
The Frederick County Board of Commissioners approved the Department of Aging area plan and the senior care annual program. The department plans to boost funds for Housing with Vulnerable Elderly, improve health insurance and guardianship services, and address a funding shortfall in senior care for disabled residents at risk of institutionalization. Sites at Point of Rocks and Kittel Nuluon are expanding meal programs with transportation to the Frederick Senior Center, while the evening meal plan is paused pending decisions. The city will also study Meals on Wheels operations, pursue transit handoffs, and pursue community collaboration. A $63,000 grant from GS Communications will fund studio equipment for Winchester Hall over three years. A review of waiving trash-dump charges for nonprofit affordable housing was ordered.
