Frederick County OKs private ice rink funding 2-1 vote
Frederick County Commissioners approved a state loan underwriting for a private ice rink off Md 26 by a 2 to 1 vote with three members present. Bruce Reeder and Gail Bowerman supported the plan citing benefits for children and the economy while David Gray opposed amid concerns of back room arm twisting. Braddock Heights residents Byron and Wendy Dyke will operate the rink on a 4 acre site near Trading Lane. the city also underwrote a $250,000 loan.
