72 Countians At Club Week
Seventy two Frederick county youths 36 girls and 36 boys enrolled for the twenty fourth Maryland 4 H Club Week at the University of Maryland College Park to run through Saturday. Attending are county agents and local demonstrators with about 900 enrollments expected, all organized into tribes and led by leaders including Miss Lou Davis and Miss Miriam Leiter.

Bikini mice at the National Cancer Institute are studied to learn bomb effects on reproduction and traits. Eighteen to twenty-four mice traveled 13 000 miles for exposure with goals on sterility mutation and cancer risk. no offspring yet and no ill effects observed two years after the blast. observations will inform future scientific questions.

Washington August 4 The Reconstruction Finance Corporation announced a major move to relieve the unprecedented shortage of men's clothing. Surplus fabrics will be used to produce high quality suits and overcoats for ex GI Joes and other needy men within six to eight weeks. Garments will sell for under 30 dollars and be superior in quality to items at similar prices. The sale runs through August 17 as the Civilian Production Administration requires manufacturers to use all fabrics for men’s clothing and promptly dispose of the garments to retailers.
