End Of Foreign Aid Seen As Dems Desert Program
Washington correspondent Peter Edson reports that a winding down of U S foreign aid may occur by 1955 under current plans. If enacted, Foreign Operations Administration will liquidate by June 30 1955 while Point Four would become a State Department operation and military aid would extend to June 30 1957. Despite a projected 3 billion this year, many lawmakers express dissatisfaction citing unspent carryover funds and a need for a new approach. House vote shows predominance of Democrats in support but 34 lawmakers switched from 1953 to 1954 stances, reflecting local concerns and shifting foreign policy views.

Maryland officials filed a formal request with the State Aviation Commission to pursue a federally supported municipal airport. Mayor Arthur Ellington said the city may pursue aid if the cost is reasonable and affordable. Beverly Jacobs led a club meeting with demonstrations on stove burner foil use and color harmony in home decor. Prospect Girls 4-H Club held a gathering with Joyce Hood overseeing a Wiener roast and record books.
