Paterson Mayor Belcher Missing Amid Financial Troubles
Paterson New Jersey August 3 reports say Mayor William H Belcher has not returned home amid speculation he may have harmed himself. Prosecutor Emley opened an inquiry into alleged bank indebtedness and arranged to question officers of local loan and trust firms. Mayor’s partner Chalmers described a dazed call and a later visit, noting Belcher’s finances reportedly settled with pledges totaling around 75 000 dollars paid in cash.

A joint committee of the Methodist Protestant Congregational and United Brethren churches met in Pittsburg to discuss consolidating the denominations. Plans to gather a dawn of February 7 were mentioned but details remain unclear. The outcome hinges on ratification by the disrupted denominations before any formal erection. In other news, Isaac Peder and George W Tweed are noted in separate incidents with a man killed in an armed incident and Boss Tweed’s son suicide at a Connecticut hospital.
