Interest rate worries derail market rally
Wall Street slid as higher rates fears weighed on stocks after a July manufacturing report showed modest growth. The Dow fell 9.2 to 10,646.0 while the S and P 500 slipped 0.67 to 1328.05 and the Nasdaq dropped 14.86 to 2623.63. Financials rose early then mixed, bonds rallied briefly, and overseas markets were mixed as investors weighed the potential for further Fed hikes against bargains from last week's losses.
