Swain Named to Court Vacancy in Orphan’s Court

Gov Schaefer appointed Robert Swain a 53 year old United Airlines pilot from Urbana to fill the Orphan's Court vacancy created by Laura Lake's summer resignation. Swain will assume the position within two weeks, swearing-in date to be set, and his interim term expires in January. He was the sole candidate recommended by the Frederick County Democratic Central Committee and is running for a four year term this fall.

Man charged with attempted murder in Frederick County

Felix Delmore Banks, 32, of Avenia Virginia, is held without bail at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center after being accused of beating choking and kicking a 31 year old Frederick resident and robbing them of 24 dollars. District Court Judge Frederick J Bower did not set bail and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug 30 on charges including attempted first degree murder and assault with intent to murder.
