Det. Frank W. Grunder Jr. 34, an 12 year veteran, was killed while attempting to arrest a suspect seen after bank holdup reports. The suspect fired, Grunder returned fire and died at Union Memorial Hospital. The manhunt followed barefoot bandit bank raids.
