Maryland Man Impaled by Board in Lumber Mishap
A 43 year old Grant county man, Glenn Evans, is in serious condition at West Virginia University Hospital after a board four inches wide and one inch thick pierced his chest during a lumbering accident near Germania in West Virginia. Evans underwent more than three hours of surgery. Harry Deal, who flew the mercy mission from Oakland, Maryland, narrowly avoided disaster when his light plane hit a fence after overshooting a landing strip near Hinbaugh. The plane was damaged but Deal continued to Germania to assist Evans before the physician had to be left behind due to weight limits.
