Alleged pants burglar held for grand jury
Mrs Lillian Knell observed a tight fitting coat and a shadowy outline in a Thurmont bedroom as a man ransacked seven weeks ago. Police tracked Willie Jenkins to a Deerfield area, later identifying him by the coat he wore. Jenkins denied housebreaking before Justice Bowlus, while Knell’s testimony linked him to the Thurmont burglary wave. He is held for the September grand jury on a $1,000 bond.

Police officer J A White testified he paced Bruce for five miles at speeds up to 75 to 80 mph before Bruce stopped when he realized the officer was following. Bruce spent the night in jail.

Coal Train Wreck in Stern Maryland Delays Western Maryland Traffic
Seventeen loaded coal cars of an east bound Western Maryland freight derailed near Williamsport on Sunday evening around 5 10 causing about 1000 feet of track to be torn up. Wreck crews from Hagerstown and Cumberland worked overnight. Traffic was to resume today. The cause was a burned out journal and thousands of tons of coal were scattered. several employees narrowly escaped injury as cars overturned.
